Most PDF compression works by reducing image resolution and stripping unnecessary metadata — and at aggressive settings, that shows. But when you need a smaller file without anything looking different, the approach has to be more selective.
This tool targets lossless compression: removing redundant data from the file structure, stripping embedded fonts that are duplicated or unused, and applying image optimization only where it does not affect visible quality. The result is a smaller file where text clarity, image sharpness, and color accuracy look identical to the original.
This matters most when sharing portfolios, client-facing proposals, legal documents with signatures, or design work. A compressed portfolio where the images look degraded defeats the purpose. Same with a signed contract — if the signature block looks blurry, it raises questions.
The tradeoff is size reduction. Lossless compression typically gets you 20–50% smaller than the original. If your PDF is 10MB, you might get it to 5–7MB. That is meaningful, but it will not help if you need to hit a strict portal limit. For those, use a targeted tool: 200KB, 500KB, or 1MB.
